Professional associations

There are various professional associations to support you. Such as knowledge institutions and trade unions. They can help you with the business aspects or inform you about your field of work.

Representative bodies

The representation of interests is done by trade unions and professional associations. Sometimes there are student or starter rates and you can usually sign up for newsletters for free.

Association for education in art and culture (VONKC)
VONKC is a trade union. They are a source of information for professional questions, they are involved in education and curriculum development and they are experts in the field of continuing education and training.

Organisation for dance professionals (Dansbelang, NBDO)
Dansbelang represents the interests of dance professionals and companies. The members of Dansbelang are dance teachers and dance/ballet schools who are mainly active in the amateur arts and the leisure sector. In addition, Dansbelang uses quality registers, organises study days, makes relevant information and knowledge available and supports the development of educational resources.

Association of music teachers in schools (VLS)
VLS promotes music education and art and cultural education in a broad circle and the interests of teachers in that field. In addition, the VLS strives to realize the facilities required for the profession, such as sufficient teaching hours, good accommodation, legal protection and funding.

Nederlandse Vereniging van Zangpedagogen (NVZ)
The Dutch Association of Singing Teachers is the professional association for (qualified) singing teachers in the Netherlands. Through the NVZ, singing teachers stand up for their interests, they keep in touch with colleagues and broaden their horizons by exchanging ideas and experiences.

Kunstenbond
Kunstenbond is working on a strong position for workers in the cultural and creative sector. This union is an association of and for members. Within the Kunstenbond, members are active in professional groups, united on the basis of the (sub)sector in which they work.

CNV
CNV Vakmensen is committed to the individual and collective interests of employees, employers and other members of the union. This union is active in many sectors, including art and culture.

Knowledge and information

Some interesting knowledge organisations in the Dutch field of art education:

Landelijk Kenniscentrum Cultuureducatie en Amateurkunst is a national institution for the promotion of expertise, information, networking and research in arts and cultural education.

MOCCA is an expertise network for art education in Amsterdam.

Cultuurconnectie is a branch association for education and participation in the arts.

Theatereducatie is a TIN initiative with a lot of information for theater teachers.

Kunstzone Thé magazine about education in arts and culture.

Social networks

To build up and maintain a professional network, you can register at different networks. In this way you stay updated about important developments in your work field, events and discussions. Also vacancies and assigments are communicated through these networks.
