There are various art and culture courses at bachelor’s and master’s level. The Reinwardt Academy, for example, offers two courses: the bachelor in Cultural Heritage, and the English-language Master of Museology.

Acquiring (work) experience during your study
All students acquire work experience during their study: this may be via a hands-on trainee placement or a research or other project in or outside the school. It is partly on the basis of what you have learnt from these experiences that you embark on your career in the world of heritage. Be aware of this: tackle all trainee placements and projects as professionally as possible. For example, you already start to build up your network right from the start of your study.

Abroad
Some students want to take a course or work in a trainee placement abroad during or after their study. Others work partly or entirely abroad after completing their study. There are various organisations that help you to organise and fund a period abroad.

It is very important to continue to develop in your professional field. You must at any rate make sure that you keep up your knowledge and skills. There are various ways in which you can keep up or take extra training in a different field.
