... apply for subsidy

Funds and subsidies
There are lots of funds and subsidy schemes. You only stand a chance with funds which are related to your project in regard to content and level. A fund’s conditions are absolute. Often you begin your project before you receive your decisive answer from the fund. That means you take a risk.

A project subsidy is usually requested by a legal entity, a foundation for example. But there are other possibilities such as individual subsidies that do not require a legal entity.

Requesting subsidy
Requesting subsidy means finishing the first phase of the project. You need to get a good, complete and well prepared story in writing in order to give the request a chance of success. You have to mention names of participating people and organizations. At the same time you cannot arrange anything definitely in contracts untill you get the decisive answer from the fund. This can be tough because you might need them for the application.

In general you apply for subsidy at several funds. Make this clear in your budget so funds can see how much money you ask from them compared to other funds and compared to the total amount needed.

Contentual aspects
You have to show the subsidizer the qualities of a product which doesn’t exist yet. Concentrate on the content and quality of the project. Read the fund's conditions carefully. Make sure it is clear what makes it special. A neat and well presented application is also important.

Money matters
It’s all about financing your plans – but money as a means for a goal. Keep that in mind.
If you remain aware of that fact, you can be more flexible as you consider alternatives for parts of your project, if less money becomes available. Make an alternative budget. Which costs are inevitable and which items could be dropped from the budget?

Consider other financing options also, just because a subsidizer never pays for everything.
