You're looking for actors to fill out your cast
Take on a casting director, because casting is a job for experts. They have a complete view of the stock of Dutch actors. On the basis of the script and the director's vision the casting director can advise you on which actors would be suitable for the parts.
The casting director
A casting director reads the script and the character descriptions of the roles. He gets to work using the picture he's developed from this.
He surveys which actors there are and the qualities they possess. And not just their individual qualities but also the combined play between various actors, which can make or break the credibility of a film.
And finally the casting director makes a proposal, with alternatives, for a complete cast.
All casting directors have records where photographs, CV's and other details about actors are kept. They can also let you see the previous work of various actors on videotapes. In this way you get a good first impression of actors before you decide to contact them.
To see how an actor comes across in the intended role in front of the camera, be it alone or with another actor, you do a screentest. You use simple video equipment for this.
Do you want to invite well-known actors for a screentest? Remember that they have usually already proven themselves and will not be excited about another screentest. You'll have to have convincing arguments if you want to have a renowned actor go through a screentest.
Make sure the actors get a script or a long synopsis well in advance. They also need a character description of the intended role, and of course texts which they can rehearse.
Make it clear when the actors can expect to have a decision from you. In the case of rejections you should pick up the phone and explain to them why they weren't accepted. You can also have the casting director do this. The rejection should also be confirmed in writing.
You can make various honorarium agreements with a casting director: per job, per hour, per day or a total amount.
For the actors you want to contract you can arrange a fee with their agent (not to be confused with the casting director), or with them directly.
